Catholicism and the American Colonies
Above: George Washington donated the money to build the first Catholic Church in Virginia. As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution and the Declaration of Independence, it would be wise if we, as American Catholics, celebrated our own origins in this country, which – like the country itself – is far older than its mere political institutions.
